5 Questions for 5 Employees

Nor Mohamed - Sales Director – Asia Pacific

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – June 30th, 2016

1.      Tell us about your personal path to CFM Materials.

I was working for GE MRO shops, namely GEASO and ATI for 17 years prior to joining the used materials business. In 2004, GE Aviation Materials was looking to hire someone to be located in Singapore to cover the sales activities in the Asia region. I put up for the job and thankfully was selected to be the first employee in the Asia region. In 2012, the opportunity to join CFM Materials opened up and I decided to join.

2.      What is your role within CFM Materials?

I am the Sales Director for the Asia Pacific region. Maintaining customer relationships, growing the sales and expanding the product offerings and services are my main responsibilities. Additionally, helping the GE teams bid and win engine overhaul deals on top of helping the Program team bid for surplus parts from the market are my other job scopes.

3.      How do LRU’s being offered through CFMM impact our business?

First of all, it will be easier for sales team to face the customers telling them that CFMM have the complete range of CFM56 used products to offer as replacements. We now have more doors to knock with the airlines and fleet managers of the world to serve and this opportunity is absolutely positive for the business.

4.      What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The many different customers from all over the region you get to meet and spend time with are definitely the highlight. The opportunity to learn new cultures, the different types of food and being driven in taxis where 3 lanes become six, constant honking is like saying hello to fellow road users and the traffic lights are only just a suggestion, enrich the overall experience. At the end of the day, gaining the customers’ trust that you are there to offer them the best available solution always makes your day.

5.      How do you see the business growing over the next five years?

There are still opportunities for used materials sales for CFM56-3 engines and the way we formulate and package our pricing will determine our success rate for this sunset engine. CFM56-5B and 7B will be the driver for us in the next few years and the challenge will be to have enough materials to go around meeting the ever growing demands. Operators choosing CFM56 engines have grown tremendously in the past few years in Asia and with Lion Air opening MRO shop nearby Singapore, the future looks good.
