CFM56-5B

Powering the Airbus A320 family

The CFM56-5B is the engine of choice for the A320 family, having been selected to power nearly 60 percent of the aircraft ordered. Today, it is the only engine that can power every model of the A320 family with one bill of materials. The engine’s broad-based market acceptance has been because of its simple, rugged architecture, which gives it the highest reliability, durability and reparability in its class.

Exclusive Boeing 737NG engine

The CFM56-7B is the exclusive engine for the Boeing Next-Generation single-aisle airliner. In total, over 8,000 CFM56-7B engines are in service on 737 aircraft, making it the most popular engine-aircraft combination in commercial aviation. The engine’s broad-based market acceptance has been because of its simple, rugged architecture, which gives it the highest reliability, durability and reparability in its class.

Leap Engines

1A

Chosen to power the Airbus A320neo

The LEAP-1A® is the airlines’ engine of choice for the next-generation single-aisle airliner from Airbus, the A320neo. It offers A320 operators exceptional technical, economic and environmental performance, with a 15% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions versus current engines, up to 50% margin on NOx emissions versus CAEP/6 Standard, and in compliance with the most stringent noise standards (the ICAO’s Chapter 14 regulations).

1B

Exclusive powerplant for the Boeing 737 MAX

The LEAP-1B® has been selected by Boeing as the exclusive powerplant for the new 737 MAX single-aisle jetliner. It offers 737 MAX operators exceptional technical, economic and environmental performance, with a 15% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions versus current engines, and up to 50% margin on NOx emissions versus CAEP/6 Standard, and in compliance with the most stringent noise standards (the ICAO’s Chapter 14 regulations).

Legacy Engines

CFM56-5C

The CFM56-5C, the most powerful engine in the family and the quietest engine in its thrust class. Purpose-designed for the Airbus A340-200 and A340-300 four-engine long-rang jetliners, the CFM56-5C is an economical engine developing 31,200 to 34,000 pounds of thrust (139 to 151 kN).

CFM56-5A

Specifically designed to power the Airbus A320 short/medium-range twin-engine jet at the outset, it later added the shortened A319 version of this aircraft. Developing 22,000 to 26,500 pounds of takeoff thrust (98 to 118 kN), the CFM56-5A is a proven, cost-effective advanced technology engine, derived from the CFM56-2 and CFM56-3 engines.

CFM56-3

The CFM56-3 played a major role in the success of the CFM56 family on 100 to 200-seat single-aisle commercial jets. As the first advanced derivative of the CFM56 family, the CFM56-3 engine is perfectly tailored for the needs of the short/medium-haul Boeing 737-300, -400 and -500 aircraft (737 Classic family).
